i was driving on the turnpike the other day racing and i was going 125 at about 5000 rpm's and since i was ahead by alot i let off the gas and got off the turnpike to pay my toll and i noticed that my car was running funny so i went home and got out it sounded like a dirt bike. so i took out the spark plugs and 1 of them was melted preety bad and now it runs on 3-cylinders. the one with the problem has 0 compression and the other 3 had a compression reading of 120. i heard no noise b/c i have no radio in the car. anybody ever heard of this before?

you could have melted a pistin at worst, ruined your valves at medium, or blown the head gasket (unlikely because of the melted sparkplug) at best. 0 compression means its shot and you need an engine rebuild. At 120psi for the rest you are at the service limit anyway, thats pretty low, my gsx runs about 170psi across and most people average 155-175

how many miles do you have and how long were you at 5krpms? do you do that ofter? sounds like you stressed the motor and killed a piston or some valves

I highly recomend a new motor.... ya that sounds about right.... I would tell you not to drive it but its already so fu3ked.

you 'bout killed it man...sucks to be you but it's not gonna be a cheap fix either with a rebuild or a new motor

If you rebuild take it as far as you can afford cause youll only want to do this once!

the car has 133k miles on it and the guy who i bought it from said that they had rebuilt it from the bottom up about 10k miles ago. i wasn't at 5k for long, maybe a second or two and when i felt something wrong i let off the gas. i usually try not to beat on it but it happens:). if i did melt a piston, which brand should i go with?
