93 GS - Annoying Brake Noise (Reverse Only)

Our 93 GS has more often than not always had a loud annoying sound when braking while backing in reverse. No noise going forward. Worse after sitting a few days.

What is the cause? What is the cure? Want it gone! Imbarrasing!

Thanks!!!

BUY A ANTI SQUEAL spray or your rear brakes must be gone or you bought a cheap brake pads or drums.

Check the e-brake could be sticking and check the anti rattle clips.

Coming from Rear Brakes

When you apply even light pedal pressure in reverse it sets off more of a howl. Mid to Low fequency vibration. Much like a large truck sounds when it brakes with a heavy load.

Don't know how else to describe it. It's Loud!

This is at least the 2nd set of pads that have howled like that in reverse. I just thought maybe it was common with the stock calipers and pads. Stumped.

arnt the rears drums? so youve replaced the pads on the drum brakes and it still does it...thats really weird. Unless its the actual drum itself. But its kinda one of those things where its hard to troubleshoot without actually seeing and hearing

Its not drums, all 1g's came with wheel disc brakes.

TDF your best bet is to pull the rear tires off and have a look at the brakes, it can be several things. If your unsure abt something take a pic and post it.

??

After reading a lot of articles all over the web this is a problem not unique to Mitsubishi. I believe a different type of disc brake pad will fix it.

My Montero Sport 03 xls with rear disc brakes make the same vibrating noise in reverse, even when you have complete stopping you can still hear the vibration.
What it sounds like? Well every time I get up to a plane and there're pushing it in reverse I hear the same vibrating noise.
Maybe we shall call the people from Boing or airbus to help us on this one.

I have been experiencing this type of vibration too and it even has this squeaking break noise that is very irritating to hear. Will replacing the brake pads and brake disc solve it?
