Difficulty starting up the engine

Hey, here's my 1st post in the forums... here we go:

I have a 1993 Eclipse turbo A/T and a couple of days ago I started noticing that my car is having some difficulty to start up the engine.

I've replaced my fuel pump last year by a new Walbro 190p fuel pump and the car is all stock, no mods. The power while driving is very good, no hesitation. But here in Brazil the temperatures are reaching 36ºC (very hot) and when I have to start the engine, it takes near 1.5sec to crank. last week the car was starting up very quickly with no need to hold the key turned for a while to it to start. Is my battery going bad? Which parts may I check before start replacing something?

start with battery. Full check can be done most garages etc.

I did that, the battery had almost 2 years and according to the guy it was still good. Eventhow I replaced it with a brand new one and in the next day, it had difficulty to start again. I've checked the charging and it's working fine, and the battery had full charge.

My next move will be taking the car to my mechanic on monday to have the starter motor verified. Since it seems to be the original part, after 20+years it may be worn out and asking to stop!
