Eclipse only hitting three cylinders
 

I just recently bought a 91 eclipse gs turbo and when i got it i changed all the belts and and put new ngk iridium spark plugs in and triple checked my timing it was all right on so when i started it sounded like total Garbage it sounded like it was only hitting three cylinders. I am new to this so where should i go from here do a compression test and check my spark plug cables. oh and i also replaced a water pump. So if you guys could let me know what i should do from here that would be great thanks.

I would recheck the spark plug wires to make sure you have the wires installed correctly. Was it running correctly before you made any changes?

Well I didn't start it up when I first got it because I noticed that the timing belt was bad so I changed that and that's when I noticed it I haven't checked the spark plug wires and injectors and will let you know after that thanks for everything guys

I rechecked all the wiring and it was all correct and rechecked the timing again have it all right where should i go from here test the coil pack or do some kind of compression test

With any new car, it's good to check compression to see where you are hitting at. I would check it straight off.

If the compression is good, you might check the fuel injectors and make sure they are working. You can do this by checking the ohms across the top. They should be within a certain tolerance according to your car's manuel.

While you have a volt tester out, you might check the ignition module as well, if you don't want to check this yourself, Advance, Autozone, O'reilys, sometimes checks the ingition control module out for free. The problem is if they have an adapter for your car.

I don't know if your car is running on a single coil or if it's running on 2 coils, but if your ignition control module was going out, then you would be firing on 2 cylinders or the car wouldn't start at all.

When all else fails, just double check everything, the worse case you might run into is a bad ECU. But this should be the last thing to check.
