Ground ignition connecter ?

hey guys, another dumb question, I think. I want to set the timming after haveing the dist. out of a 93 eclipse 1.8 . The book i have says 2 put a ground jumper from ignition test connecter to a good ground, this plug on my car has 2 tits inside that thing. Do I ground both tits or one of them ? Thanks fore any help :D Sam

It should only have one wire and that goes to ground.

Thanks dsm1990gsx, I went back and looked closer at that timming wire & it does have 2 tits in it.on closer inspection I notice the 2 tits are made of rubber or are little covers on them, the only single wire is black & goes 2 a condencer 2 ground. Am I looking in the wrong place ? over by the battery.

It should be over by the battery, but theres gonna be two similar connector one for ign timing adjustment and the other is a fuel pump test connector. The one you want has a yellow wire w/ a red tracer.

dsm1990gsx 12-04-2009 01:27 PM

That sucks, well at least the head gaskets are easy to replace on the 1.8.

pepper 12-06-2009 08:40 AM

very true, but dang it sure is cold outside, but i bet there wont be any bad hoses on it after this. I suppose it was supper good luck that the head was not warped or cracked because it got all 4 clinders on the gasket, strange, it had 2 be relly hot but i started it up and it ran fine , so i put water in it and it blowed it back out but it never did miss a lick. now she wants me to change it over 2 auto trany. can this be done with this bisy? like we use 2 do the old cars back in the day?
