Nope they dont, 1g dsm's have either a 4g63t, 4g63 or 4g37. I think neans have the 420a.

Whats is this then?

THe rs and some GS modelsshare a common engine with the dodge neon the 420a engine a dohc 150hp 132ft/lb 2.0 4 cyl engine fast in a neon r/t or ACR- a 2500 or less pound car ,SLOW ASS HELL IN A 3200-3500 pound eclipse. these eclipses should not be mistaken with the 210 hp 4g63 turbocharged engine in the GS-T or GSX- these cars share this engine with older Mitsubishi Lancer EVO's. these engines however(unlike the eclipses 420a) can be very easily upgraded on STOCK INTERNALS to be 400+hp which has been proven over and over again. NO this car is not a ricer by any means. rs and gs can be and most likey are.

A little info for you people...

420A is Mitsubishi it has nothing to do with any Neon motor. It is a common misconception.

The Neon block is closest related to the 2.2 and 2.5 Chryslers as it was built on the same line as those blocks were. The Dual Over Head Cam head was a joint venture between Lamborghini and Chrysler and has nothing to do with Mitsubishi engineers.

The 2.4 Liter Stratus engine and Neon 2.0 DOHC engines share the same head.

The 420A block and the dohc neon block are the same. The pistons are installed in reverse on a 420A block, as the intake side is nearest the fire wall. The grooves cut into the pistons are larger on the intake side, seeing as the intake valves are larger than the exhaust valves.

The neon block is actually closet related to the 420A as they share the same block, and the head is the same, but designed differently. The 2.0L , 2.2L, 2.4L, and 2.5L all share the same bell housing pattern in reference to transmissions. The 2.0L and 420A have the same block internals. The 2.2L and 2.5L have differ mainly in the pistons , and a select year having a taller block (88?). That leaves the 2.4L on it's own. The 420A head was used in
the Eclipse, Talon, Avenger, and Sebring, of which did bear a Mistsubishi stamp on the firewall. Have been dealing with these cars for seven years now, and have yet to see where Lamborghini had a hand in the build. Where did you read this at? Have heard the engine was similar to a Porsche boxter.

Only up until 2001. Then the bolt patter for the intake manifold changed, as well as oiling and coolant passages.

Just so you know, the engine code for a sohc neon is ECB and the dohc neon is ECC. Also, the dohc neon intake manifold flows my better than the longer runners of the aluminum 2.4L intake manifold. The 1G 95-99 dohc heads does flow better (stock and ported) over the 2001+ dohc head. intake side is the same, but the exhaust valves are larger on the 1G heads. Good for all builds n/a and forced induction. One could say a 1G head flows better than stock srt head in all forms.

check this out, would a non-turbo eclipse motor fit in a DOHC neon - DodgeForum.com

gimme some input on this info guys, should i swap out 420a with 4g63 and put the dohc head on? Mod the exhost manifolds for clearance to fit.

discuss .......
