Default 1997 Eclipse Spyder GS with P0505 code.

Hello,
I recently purchased a 1997 Sypder GS this month .. The IAC and ECU were replaced by a Mistubishi dealership (HUB Mitsubishi) in March. The previous owner then unloaded the car to a dealership. Well, the car looks good and I decided to purchased it.. Now to my problem ...

I have the CEL on and my basic ODB-II scanner shows a P0505 - IAC Malfunction. However, when I cleared the code, it did not appear until the engine warmed up to 189+ degrees, then the random idle started. When I talked to the Mitsubishi shop mgr, he stated there might have been a cooling system issue when they had the car but could not give me any more information. I was wondering if anybody here could shed some light on where I need to look to try and resolve this issue.. Apparently there has been a couple of auto shops that atempted to repair it before they ( an Auto Shop) actually took it to the Mitsubishi Dealership to get it repaired ... Any assistance would be greatly appreciated ..... With the IAC and ECU so recently replaced, I am leaning toward something else as the real issue.

My car:
1997 Eclipse Spyder - Kalapana Black with Tan interior.
92K miles
2.4L SOHC
5-Spd Manual
and a lot of fun to drive !

Best Regards,
Danny

The coolant temp sensors can cause the idle surge too. It's funny that the cooling system was mentioned

Usually that code is the ISC motor needing to be replaced. Otherwise, maybe check the throttle body. Take it out and clean it. Might even be a leak in the throttle seals, or check the throttle cable itself
