420A Chrome Headers

hello guys,
i just need some thoughts from you guys about racing headers that are listed on ebay. the prices range from 90 to 150 bucks for the NT model. will changing the headers does improve the car performance? so tell me what you guys think. thanks

not worth the money unless you want something that looks good....won't help performance any

I dont know how little motors are, but my other vehicle I'm very involved in is a lifted 74 ford f-100. I know on big motors headers make a HUGE difference, in fact they are considered the most horsepower-per-dollar-spent that you'll find. Considering a V-8 gains easily 30 horses by swapping to decent shorty headers and more on the long headers, I would think it's worth it for a little car like an eclipse. if theyre only 90 to 150 bux, it sure doesnt hurt that bad.

it could gain you about 8-18 HP it will make a noticable differance.

The fact is that on a n/t it will gain it for you because there is alot better flow than that stock thing. As everone knows heeders arent practical on a turbo car possable but not practical. it will gain you HP and from people that i know that have done this upgrade they have noticed a differance just for the fact that if you were to gain 10HP it would be like geting 30 HP outa that V8.

Yeah, headers reduce backpressure, and a good tuned set will actually help pull gasses out of the head, due to the bermulie (sp) principal or something. Each cylinder fires and the sequence of the firing is considered when a header is designed as to which order the pipes meet up. Sorry this isnt really understandable, I think im gonna take a nap.

Actually the part for "headers" is called MANIFOLD. It connects to the turbo. Even the tubular ones are still called MANIFOLDS. Closest thing to a header is the tubular style. Turbo models will not see headers unless they have an axle-mounted turbo (MR2).

Yea, plus on a 4 cylinder there's only one "header.";) Power from an exhuast manifold is always dependent on how bad the stock one is, some cars it's a big differance, some the stock isn't that bad so there's not as much to imporove on.
