Recently I had the insane idea of a project motor. I have a 95 rs that, frankly, is a piece of junk. It was a swap for a barely running mazda, so Im happy, it runs strong with only 106k on it. Of course, the nonturbo is in no way a powerhouse. However Id rather not dump 5000 into a 95 rs when I can buy a gsx for half that. But everyone aims for the gst/gsx. I got the crazy idea of getting a 420a as a project motor. strip it down entirely. bore it out. beef up the internals. the usual. Only instead of turboing it like everyone else talks about... theres a supercharger kit available for the 420a. If I could manage to pull this off over a couple years (do the usual bolt-ons to the rs) and when I can afford to, find a GS shell so all the motor/tranny mounts are in the proper place to drop in the 420aS with a 5spd.

Im just wondering, has anyone here heard of this being done? Ive seen the kit, Ive seen it installed but Ive never heard any feedback other than that the car I saw it in was pushing in the area of 400bhp. I havent heard anything else, it was a writeup in a magazine.

IMO i would much rather have a turbo than a supercharger. Yes its been done before with a supercharger obviously but a turbo is far more efficient at producing boost.

hey there i dont know about the super charger put on it not a big one anyway ive seen one that was put an a gs that added 40 hp thats it however i built my 98 gs up i bored it to 3.63 just shy of a small block v8 size pistons. high flow fuel and oil pump high end radiator 40 mm throttle body edlebrock intake sent my comp to jet inc took the rev limiter off and beefed the computer up a lil put a venom 400 control module a piggy back unit and long rod crank and long rods to turn it into a 2.4 litter. with 10.5/1 compression and ran 250 shots of direct port nitrous to it with an nx maximizer i never ran it on a dino or a race track but smoked a srt4 that was suped up and a gsx eclipse and a older corvet and a 02 trans am with ram air that was chiped out so im a firm beleaver in naturally aspirated motors with a lil push with nitrous just need to build it right i put about 5 grand in the motor that was years ago but to me it was worth it
