Default 4g63 vs 4g64

I've read some posts here and it really seems like you guys know what you are talking about so.....I am looking for a 2g eclipse and have found a couple for pretty cheap. I've narrowed it down to two different cars, a '96 and a '98, both gsx's. The '96 has the 2.4L 4g64, and the '98 has the 2.0L 4g63, I am just wondering which engine is better to start off with if you want to build it for performance? I don't know much about DSM so I've researched alot on the net but haven't found a clear cut answer, which is what I'd like so hopefully you guys can help me out.

No gsx should have a 4g6g4. The only 2g that came in was the spyder eclipse. And to answer your question the 4g63 is a much
better engine to build.

both engines are the same block hence the 4g6X. They just have different internals . And he is correct, all 2g gsx's came with the 4g63 so unless he has a 2.4L stroker, its only a 2.0. So id ask him exactly how he has a 2.4.

Well he said that it was a Magnus 1G(6 bolt) 2.4L race engine with J/E pistons and cower rods, along with a 2g DOHC head.I was assuming it was probably a swap? but I don't know if it was for the better, or if a 4g63 is still better. I'll ask him if it's the stroker though.

A 1g 6 bolt would be the 4g63. So what you have there is a stroked 6 bolt which is f'in awsome.

If it is a 1g 6bolt it is not a 4g64 it is a 4g63 with a stroker kit. i would ask for proof sounds like he has no clue what he is talking about.

He said he paid Magnus $4500+ for a 2.4L 4g64 with high performance rods, pistons, and removed balance shafts. He said that it was used in another mitsubishi's before it was rebuilt. He also said that the engine they sell now as a 2.4L stroker is a 2.0L block with a stroker crank, giving a longer stroke and the 2.4L displacement.

Agreed oh and when you stroke a 2.0 it comes out a 2.3L 4g63 just because it is stroked dose not mean it is a 4g64. but hey i found this LMAO
http://www.magnusmotorsports.com/engines/dsm.htm#Complete%20Shortblocks
now look at this go here and tell me if you see a 2.4
http://www.ds mtuners.com/parts/default.php?cPath=3_134_171it has a space because this site dose not like that link.
The only way i can thing they got it to a "2.4" is to bore it out .040 which if that is the case you will never be able to rebuild that motor unless you want to re-sleeve it.
