4g64 motor swap?

I need help guys and girls. My friend recently purchased a 97 eclipse in great shape with a blown motor (a 4g64 16 valve sohc) I have looked everywhere in my area and have had no luck finding one for him. I was told "good luck" by some of them. I did find a 95 galant motor that looks the same with the exception of a distributor. His car doesn't have one. Will this motor work or not? Please help me with all the info you can.

distributor will not work... however, if you can find a galant motor with the dual overhead cam (dohc) that would be the best thing you can do... A lot of people are looking for that. If the galant motor you are looking for has it, you are good to go man. I think the only thing you need to swap out is the ecu.... The gauges are controlled though the same software protocol, the tranny is controlled though the TCU if automatic... if not, you are stilll good to go with manual transmission. The only thing you may need to change is the camshaft positioning sensor. Everything else should be the same: MAF sensor, Crankshaft Positioning sensor, O2 sensors, etc, etc... You should be good to go man. let me know if you need anything else.... The 4g64 blocks are the same as 4g63, only the internals and the deck height are different.
