Default 90-94 tranny in 97 gst?

Hi everyone agian. Seem as though gst to gsx is not such a hot idea for the moment. May be in six months or so. Now my question is can a 5 speed tranny out of a 90-94 nt car work in my 97 gst. My thoughs were that the 1g cars both turbo and not turbo had the same tranny while the 2g had a different tranny in the gst because it was a 4g63 motor and the NT had the 420a like the neons and such. If this tranny will work, 90-94 nt eclipse,my problem is solved for the moment of put my car back on the street.

Well, the internals from the 1g's are very very similar to the internals of the 2g turbo's. So you can swap internals. The casing and everything is different so it can't be dropped in. You can mix and match and just get the parts you want from the 1g tranny. I wouldn't replace the forks or anything like that with the 1g's.....since the 1g's reportedly had bad shifting action. But the gears should drop in, for the most part. It's quite easy to take apart a tranny....but putting it back together is why mechanics get paid. You can find info on a teardown and rebuild somewhere on the internet, i remember reading it somewhere. It had pics too.
