my 97 eclipse belt has been making squeeling noise since I bought it...noone mechanic can seem to figure it out..belt has been replaced..and tightened , but noise keeps coming back..if i spray it with WD40 it won't squeak for a while...</P>

<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">try buying a can of belt dressing spray at your local auto parts store,it may help.WD-40 is not really considered a lubricant.If belt squeaks all the time it may need to be tightened slightly.If it only squeaks upon start up it probably is slipping slightly.If nothing helps you will probably have to replace belt.

 

My belt was squeeky too!!!! It turns out it was cracked or something they replaced it and put some lube thing on it and it works fine now no more squeek.
