97 Eclipse Head replacement! Several questions!
 

I just bought a 97 Eclipse Needing a new head! Previous owner neglected the timing belt and it snapped Bending valves! Replaced timing belt car runs but like crap! Im going to replace the head and hope everything turns out nice! Now I've never actually replaced a head whenever they've went I've just changed the motor! Cheaper to replace head in this case! Looking for some tech help maybe something you did that made it that much easier! Looking for timing marks! Torque specs on the head bolts! anything that will make this a easy swap out!
also my car doesnt have any badges EX: gs gs-t any of that how would you find that one out? Its 97 Eclipse 2.0 Non Trubo!

wellsince it is not turboed its more than llikely a 420 chrysler engine unles it is a spyder. also this would make it a gs or rs. if it has skirts and power windows and locks then its more likely a gs if it doesnt have any of this its a rs.

Well thank you very much! I guess its a gs Then!! Guys I needs torque specs bad for the head bolts! are there any tech sites that would be usefull in this situation??? I Appreciate the help!

Mines pretty much off the new one will be here tuesday morning installed tuesday night and hopefully driving this weekend! Where did you get your timing marks???? Head bolt specs???? I wanna get er dun yanno! I just need a little help! I figure if worse comes to worse I'll send it to a mechanic have him put the head on and time it! I'd rather not though! Thanks for the help guys!:D

I know there have been threads on doing the timing marks. They are on the cams and if i remember they are supposed to point at each other. But check on that by doing a search on here. But here are the torque specs

[*]Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration. Using the 4 step torque turn method, tighten according to the following values.[/ol]
[ul][*]Tighten center fasteners 1 thru 6 to 33 Nm (25 ft. lbs.) . Then outer fasteners 7 thru 10 to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) .[*]Tighten center fasteners 1 thru 6 to 67 Nm (50 ft. lbs.) . Then outer fasteners 7 thru 10 to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) .[*]Tighten center fasteners 1 thru 6 to 67 Nm (50 ft. lbs.) . Then outer fasteners 7 thru 10 to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) .[*]Turn all fasteners 1 thru 10 90°clockwise . Do not use a torque wrench for this step. CAUTION:[*]Always make a tightening angle just 90°. If it is less than 90°, the head bolt will be loosened.[*]If it is more than 90°, remove the head bolt and repeat the procedure.[/ol][/ul]
