'98 Eclipse 2.0L "Coolant temp too high" CEL?
Hey guys, I was hoping someone might be able to help me out. A friend of mine has a '98 Eclipse with the 2.0L I4 and it's throwing a P-code for "Engine coolant temp too high".
The car isn't overheating, it has plenty of coolant and no issues with the cooling system. Also, the right hand side cooling fan seems to be permanently on. I'm guessing there's a coolant temp sensor that's shorted. I noticed 2 sensors on the cooling coupler that the upper radiator hose feeds into. There's a larger one on top and a smaller one on the bottom. Does anyone know which of these would likely be causing this issue (and what the PN is for it)? Thanks in advance. I did a search, but this doesn't seem to be a common issue. -Nick |
