98 Eclipse P1494 - Won't Start -GRR
I just put a new fuel pump in a few days ago after the old one quit. Ran good for a few days, now getting check engine light. Went a bought a OBD2 code reader and it shows a P1494 emissions code. Backed the car into the garage, read the code and now it won't start. Key on still shows the P1494 code on the reader, but no idea now why it won't start. Also have been intermittently noticing a "motor" running in the back seat drivers side area, but not all the time. Not sure what it is or if it has anything to do with the problem. The car belongs to my 17 yr old son, and he's getting to where he doesnt trust driving the car (not that I blame him).. Frustrating.. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure the fuel pump was bad and it wasn't your fuel pump relay? A relay could be going bad and be intermittent. and that could be the reason it won't start.
If it is an emissions system code, those will usually not keep your car from starting, it just won't be able to pass the emissions test. I do not know the codes for your car but you can search the WEB or maybe someone on this site knows exactly what that code is.
When you put the pump in, you may have inadvertenlty loosened some hose or other electrical connection that may be the reason for the code.
The motor running in the back seat is the fuel pump. Some aftermarket ones will make more noise than the OEM. If you turn the iginition on and don't start the car, you should hear the pump come on for couple seconds and then go off, this pressurizes the fuel system.
