99 eclipse rough idle Newbee here

First i would like to say thanks for having this forum.

We have a 99 Eclipse spider, non-turbo motor , automatic tran, a few weeks ago a seldom rough spot popped up when stopped at lights, last week it got worse, when starting it comes up to 900- 1000 rpm fine then drops off to normal idle. but it is a rough idle, we changed the plugs and wires, flushed the fuel system and changed the fuel filter to no relief, today the engine light came on and is staying on, i have read 20 pages of this forum so i am going to try AUTOZONE tommarow and hope they can read the code. i was wondering if anyone had a better idea of witch things i should look at replacing in any specific order if my auto zone can not read code. was also wondering were i might find the plug on my car to read it with a meter. it also has a very slight hesitation while crusing at 65. this is car is all stock.

Thanks for your time.

If the IAC is bad the car will hunt of idle, for sample the r's would constantly dance from 2k to 700. It sounds like you mave have an ingition problem. The only ture way to find out is by getting that checked. BTW when your at autozone pick up a manual for the car that way you will be able to check what the code means.

Okay i went to the auto zone , used the computer reader thing, and got p0400 the book and the reader said was an EGR flow problem, from what i am reading in the book, it could be the egr valve or the egr sensor i will check all the connections to make sure they are okay before ordering new parts, dose andone know a honest place in sacramento ca were i can have replacement work done? i can't use one hand for a few more weeks.. any ways thanks again for your help you saved me about a thousand buck a few places quoted me to chase down the problem.

I would ask a friend to do the work for you and buy him a case of beer or something becuase the replacment in a whole takes about 15 min and a shop may not install parts from other companys, also they charge on a hour basis. So if its 15 min of work they just charge you an hour.
