Default 99 Eclipse Spyder GS Performance Upgrades....

Hey Everyone im new to this forum, i just sold my 94 accord, with a bunch of mods on it not really engine just intake and exhaust. I know that everyone talk about building up and eclipse and how its easy to get HP gains. I'm not sure how true this is but I am definetly getting the eclipse in the next couple of days. I know it has the 2.4L SOHC and not the 2.0L DOHC, not sure about advantages or disadvantages to having the 2.4L. I have read a few posts about the engines, but am still kinda lost. Just wondering if anyone has some suggestions on some reasonably priced ways to get horsepower, im not gonna go crazy which means no turbo. Maybe anyone knows a good intake to get i was thinking AEM V2, maybe TSUDO EXHAUST I had one on my accord and i loved it especially for the price.....anything would help.....THANKS!

If you're interested in power and are getting a non-turbo than you'll always be limited by the starting platform. The reputation they have for developing quick horsepower is, in my experience, for the GST and GSX models because you can increase the boost fairly easy and if you don't go too far you don't have to change much to do this. A turbo is not crazy, there's a lot of cars with stock turbos compared to superchargers because, for one reason, turbos are very streetable. The power's only there when you want it.

I never said you should buy a different car I was refering to what you said about "nothing crazy so no turbo." I thought based on that you weren't considering turboing the car you have now. If you want power from your NA eclipse getting a turbo kit seems expensive but to achieve the same power levels you'd get from that you'd end up spending a lot of money on other bolt on parts, probably just as much or more. A bolton turbo kit won't mess with your insurance cause they should never know about it, most companies probably woudln't even care if they did.
