another thing is where you live. here in SC we don't have inspections or emissions so you can basically do anything you want to your car and not worry about it other than having to loud of an exhaust or something. i have a friend w/ a 450whp srt-4 (fast version of the Neon if you don't know) with NOTHING but a custom pipe running from his turbo, straight to the back of the car. it's not QUITE as loud as i thought it'd be but it's still an earfull but the turbo sounds NASTY in that thing.

and the EVO is one of the world's most well known rally cars, the suspension and electronic controls on that car are CRAZY and not to mention they come stock w/ 289hp but with no more than probably 1000-1500 bucks you can have 350WHP reliably.

you can get a used EVO VIII (03-05) for 18-20k these days. or an EVO IX (06 only)will run you between 25-30k. the new EVO X doesn't look anything like it's predecessors. pretty much any EVO before the VIII is very rare to find (a real one). You can 'make' one out of a lancer or galant as well.

Rob, don't take this the wrong way, but I can't help but wonder if there is a problem with your EVO. I mean, I don't know you all that well, thats all. Mike on the other hand, is just as **** as me when it comes to taking care of cars, so...

Mines pretty cloes to being Legal .

I would have to argue with most of these people that say they have a street legal car that has 800hp.. Kind of like that video that was just posted in off topic. There is no way in hell that car could drive down the road and not get a ticket for something..

well if you want to get technical... i was talking to an officer around here one day while i was at work at the local concert center. he said that TECHNICALLY.... anything aftermarket performance part is illegal. that means an intake, exhaust, ecu, anything. but most cops are that much of a dick.

im far from stock and far from street leagal... that is a HUGE difference from street leagal and street car. My car is built for the street but not leagal at all. there are tips and tricks to pass emmisions with highly modded cars, but you have alot more to learn before that(no offence)

but some people do their R&D just to helpe people like us. a company called Quick Time Performance (QTP) makes a line of electronic exhaust cutouts so that whenever you want you can be running on what sounds exactly like a stock exhaust and flip a switch to open the cutout and you have a 2" - 4" straight pipe opening right where the downpipe and cat meet. pretty siq, here's a good vid demo - http://youtube.com/watch?v=Tr7ZgouD7xE
