Default back to a GS build

hey guys, well i sold the GSX... (i'm saving the money to get a new (bigger/better/faster) car next year... kinda doin th whole "looking towards the future" thing for kids and crap, thinkin about getttin an EVO MR or Mazda speed 6 next year... still undecided but however i am now plannin to build up the motor in my 99 GS... not turbo, not supercharge, build. so i've been lookin for some bad @$$ stroke kits. however NA motors aren't my specialty. so a few quick questions:
do you simply need new higher compression pistons and BOOM ur set???
what is a good compression for good build 420a?
what is the stoock compression in a 420a engine?
i found a set of pistons on SBR that put out 10.5 - 1. is this enough to make me somewhat quick? and if so, how quick? thanks for any help

Thats a bad Idea... Just save your money and have a big wad of cash to put down a year from now. Building your 420a will cost alot for no results it will still be slow if you stay NA and you will dump a chunk of change you could save

thanks HOWEVER i'm keeping this car until i get my new one next year, and i don't want to be gettin beat by lil neons next to me SOOOO i'm putting myself on a grand budget, so i'm wondering about the pistons, i can get them for like 500, i have a friend that runs a machine shop so he can do the bore fo rme for free. so how about it?? are pistons all i need? and is 10.5 enought to see a real difference????

I have been wondering this myself too. I have a 97 GS and I have done the whole intake, headers and exhaust and I don't want to put on a turbo or supercharger kit. I have been wanting to know what next?

well to make your car quick there are 4 ways to go:
- Turbo
- Supercharger (good luck finding one, i foud once ONCE but can't find it anymore)
- All engine build (what i'm lookin to do)
- or Engine swap, but good luck with that one!!!

back to my selfish self - Howell Automotive sells JE 12.5 compressions pistons and the Eagle Long Rods that match, do i need any other engine modifications other than the obvious bore to the cyliners?? (ex. crank, headwork) ALSO if i'm runnin 12.5 what kind of HP gain can i expect from the car? and ALSO if i decide to run a 50-75 shot ontop of the block build what kind of power will that suply me?? thanks for all th POSATIVE feedback guys.

Ya but even after man youll still only win by not alot. to build a motor to be "fast" on your car will cost ALOT and youll likley only get 200WHP which is good to run you what 14s??

It really isnot worth it if you intend on getting rid of the car in a year. Just save your money I garentee you will regret it if you dont because I once did the same thing and $8500 in aftermarket later I sold the car for less than I owed on it. When I could have had $8500 for a down payment or even mods on the EVO.

Do what you want with oyur car but the value of it and power gained is minimal if you stay N\A
