Default backup lights

alright, so i've been to the understanding that on the 2G eclipse's the backup lights are relayed through the stereo? is that correct?? and if so would putting a new deck in the space and giving it power turn my backup lights on when i put it in reverse?

I have never heard of this, I have put in a new deck and never had problems. The only time I had any problems with my reverse lights was when i was changing them I accidently blew the fuse for them. This made my SRS light (airbag) come on and stay on. It went off though once I replaced the fuse that is under the dash. So the only thing I know of is that your airbag is some how wired with your reverse lights.

Thats the first time ive heard of that... Did you just hook your stereo up with the harness? Did you run any extra wires for any reason? Like a remote for subs?

I actually don't have a deck in right now, that's why i heard of it. I'm getting a JVC indase dvd player for it, but that's a few months out. right now i just have wires hanging and that's it, and my backup lights don't work.
