Default Check Engine Light

Quick question, my check engine light came on - Could it be from the Exhaust header being loose and not torqued or what are some simple things that could cause this -- I had my oil changed about 500 miles ago, I couldn't get the high milage oil since they were out so they put standard in, could it be caused by that as well? Any help would appreciated.. I just got the car back from the shop and really can't have it go back in.. Thanks!

That's because that guy is a moron. 95-96 is considered OBD-I (these years weren't required to have OBDII, but it really is an OBDII), but is wired with an OBDII plug (a large portion of those years anyway). 97-98 (Eagle) -99 are OBDII. I don't know what some Autozone folks do for 95-96 year cars but they get the OBDII to work.
Did the guy have the key on? lol.

OP, to your original question, yes. You are sucking in extra air that your o2 sensor is picking up causing it to read a lean condition. If the computer tries to compensate too much and the ECU reaches its threshold, it will throw up a CEL and direct you to the o2 sensor. o2 = narrowband, the front and first o2 sensor, not the rear one by the catalytic converter.

Question, when was the header installed? Is it the original or was an aftermarket installed and just not torqued or just loosened up? Main question...what was the last thing done to your car before the CEL appeared? Be honest.

I was going to take the header off, and I loosened 3 bolts before I realized I might as well wait for the whole exhaust to come and do it all at once -- I re-tightened the bolts with out a torque wrench -- But I replaced the spark plugs and spark wires as well as replaced my CAI with a short ram and the CEL went off -- but there is still a weird noise at around 2000 rpm and cuts off at 2500 rpm

I'll try, it's like a faint hiss/rustle - Thought maybe air was pushing out from the loose header, or a loose belt since I had a new one recently placed on and just need to tighten it. No idea..but i'll work on the sound clip
