Clutch/Tranny rattle

Hey there. I had a friend replace the clutch in my 97 eclipse GS, and now I have a very annoying rattle coming from the clutch area when I'm in neutral and have the clutch out.

Afterwards he tells me he may have forgotten to grease the TOB. I'm wondering if it can be greased well enough via the clutch fork boot? Or am I looking at either dealing with the noise or pulling the tranny just to grease the TOB?

Replace the tob.

Seriously? =( .. Not greasing a brand new throw out bearing means I need a new one? I don't think I mentioned it was an entire clutch kit. Please tell me that make a difference..

There isn't a reason to grease the tob, I've done several clutch jobs and never had issues.

What brand was the clutch kit? I've heard people using non oem tob's and having noise issues.

It was an OEM sachs..

Is it possible I got a "bad" TOB? anything else that can be causing it? Is it causing any harm to drive it this way? I haven't done anything other then drive it up and down the street once.

it sounds like a TOB to me as well. Its not really going to cause any problems but like 1990dsm, i have heard of some brands of TOB's just being junk

In the long run it could seize up and damage the fingers on the pressure plate.

Is sachs not an oem brand? Or did I just get the random crap one?

Mitsubishi is oem, sachs is aftermarket w/ some oem quality.
