Code p0401
Hey guys, will today while driving check engine came, went straight to auto zone since i was gonna pass by anyway. Will got it checked out, and seems to be code p0401 egr system fault. Explanation the ecm has detected too little flowon the egr system. I have no idea were to start, any help would be greatly appreciated. Also got some probable cuases.
1-blocked passage on egr system 2-failed egr valve 3-egr solenoid faulty 4-failed egr pressure pensor(where applicable) 5-failed egr position sensor" " |
RE: Code p0401
remove the EGR valve and see if the hole in the intake is all carboned up. if it is, clean it out with a little wire brush/ pipe cleaner and some air intake cleaner, P0401 usually is insufficient flow. Thats the first place I would start. While you have the EGR out, see if it holds vaccum.

Can anyone pinpoints were this egr valve is located i have a 420a engine, and also the check engine light isnt on anymore is that normal?

RE: Code p0401
no i wasnt saying you dont have to fix it. Because if it came on obviously you do have something wrong. But i was just saying its normal for these codes to go on and off when you get the code. But you should still try and clean out the egr port on the intake manifold. Im not sure where its located on the 420a though
