what is an inexpensive coilover and where do I get it?? are coilovers better than just lowering springs and why?????

first off there is no such thing as a cheap true coilover kit, you can get Skunk2's "coilovers" but they aren't real coilovers i don't even know why they call them that, they are nothing more than an adjustable lowering spring. the cheapest coilovers i've found are Tanabe for 625, here's the site http://www.hopupracing.com/tasuprostyii.html now i don't know a whole lot about suspention but i have never heard of this company in my life so you may wanna ask the other guys on there that are a little more experienced about this brand. good luck.

if you are going to get coilovers then there is no cheap one. You really want to get a good set or else you have a horrible ride. The only real advantage to getting coilovers is so that you can adjust your ride hieght. And also in most cases you can lower the car more than lowering springs can. (usually up to around 3" lowered). However with getting coilovers because the car can get so low you will most likely need to get a camber kit as well. IMO they arnt worth it. I would get lowering springs and some good shocks over coilovers any day. But thats just me

The coilover in that link is crap. It only has an adjustment for the spring which CAN be used for height, but really shouldnt, because youll kill your shocks and make your ride like crap.

There are ones on ebay for 660 shipped that are decent. Theyre called NEX coilovers. These come with a piece on the bottom that can screw up and down to adjust only the height, and it wont affect your ride quality.
The Reason these are so cheap is because they have no dampening adjustment. Most of the $1000+ coilovers have little switches that let you adjust the dampening. The tokico illuminas have dampening adjustments too.

I wouldnt really find this a reason to turn away from the NEX ones because the dampening isnt really necessary. If you're into actual hardcore track racing, and you need to tune your car EXACTLY perfect (which im guessing you're not trying to do because you want "inexpensive")

The really good tein ones have it all. I think they have 15 dampening settings, the lower height adjustment, and the spring adjustment...thats why theyre so expensive.

and imo coilovers are worth it, but i just have to drive on different terrain pretty often (oregon) so sometimes i need to adjust ride height before a trip

they look pretty good. The only thing that throws me off is they say its good for any type of eclipse, but if i remember correctly the awd versions and the spyders have different part #'s than the others. So i dont know how they could work for any model

STAY AWAY FROM KSPORT. a vendor over on club3g tried to sell Ksport coilovers to a couple of members. when they received the coilovers, they were not the correct design. these coilovers are crap. stay away.

so if i'm looking for a good solid all around coilover who should i go with i'm tring to stay under 1100. (can you give me a link to where i can find them) also if i'm going for a FULL suspention, what else do i need? stabilizer bars? camber kit? strut bars?
