Default RE: Convertible Top Question

I have a friend that worked at a dealership. He said there is a TSB about the tops. There is a replacement elastic that is different fromt he factory stuff and I think if I remember correctly he also said there may be a replacement bracer as well. He said that the elastic replacement is a stronger elastic and helps the top fold better and the other replacement is a little better design. You guys will have to look the TSB up yourselves I dunno where to find it. Hopefully this helps you all.

Hey,
Thanks a lot for the great info.. I fixed my top with roll pins from NAPA. Less than $0.50 to fix.. That sure bets $415.00 for EACH motor (from the Dealer), which I needed two. This here is a Great place to learn STUFF and save money !!! Dave

Default RE: Convertible Top Question

Question on my Sypder Top. The actual passenger side latch doesn't seem to lock extremely tight. Basically if you watch the hook, it does go into the correct spot, but just doesn't snap as tight as the driver side. I tried to manually turn the "hook" part as it is threaded like a screw, but it doesn't seem to turn at all. Is there some pin or something holding it in place? Reason I ask is that if you look at the hook parts on each side, the driver side one seems to be screwed in farther than the passenger side, thus making it latch tighter.

I rattles when you hit a bump and is kind of annoying. Any help would be appreciated.

both my shear pins are bad. Those metal braces over your head got bent when we tried to put the top down manually, at least after reading this thread I know the elastic straps that pull the bow over your head back need to be replaced, then I will slap new pins in. I was not sure of anything until I read this thread
it should be a sticky thread since spyders around 96-99 had this top
