I would get a ported 2g manifold and save for a turbo.

well ur kinda in the same boat i was in. I needed a new manifiold so i sprung for what i hope is a good quality tubular stanless manifold for $125, a FP- BIG T-28 turbo( more powerful than stock but a direct bolt in) for $800, an evo III o2 housing and all the gaskets, oil and water lines to go with it for a little over $275. If you dont have the cash right now, then just buy a manifold. and some extra studs.....

well $500 should will only get you an upgraded manifold so if you want you go go with either a tubular like paintball is doing or go with the ported 2g. But for that much your not gonna be able to upgrade the turbo
