Hey guys I was just courious how you can tell the difference between a small, big and Evo3 16g?

 

Ok, my bad I should have tried searching first I found this.... Here are serial numbers that correlate with the type of turbo. Just in case anyone else needs to know.

49178-01010 - 14b
49178-01520 - Small 16G
49178-01420 - Big 16G
49178-01470 - EVO III 16G
49179-05200 - TD06 - 16G
49178-05400 - TD05H -20G
49179-05400 - TD06H

 

except can't you have a td05 16g? thats just the housing size i believe... and sorry not to answer this question before, but i believe the difference in the three turbos is the turbine inside isa bit bigger, and maybe the port as well? either way, the ones you listed, in that order, basically go from smallest to biggest, from less flowing to better flowing

 

Yeah the small, big and EVO all have TD05H on the side, the difference is the size of the exhaust turbines, maybe something else but here is a chart for some of the turbos

but the way you can find out if you have a small, big or EVO without taking apart the turbime and measuring it is by looking at the end of your serial number becuase depending on which one it is it will end in one of those numbers ^

 

Which one is the best? I have heard from one side that the Big 16g is better, and on the other that the EVO III is better.

 

Out of the 16gs the Evo is the best because the EVO is a Big 16g but better. The small 16g is rated up to 340hp, the big 16g is 380 and the evo is 400+

If you aren't planning on runnign over 20 lbs all the time then you should definently invest in getting the wastegate upgraded to a 34mm or you will have boost creep issues.

Also you will need to buy the 2g install kit.

 

why bother with the mist units ???
just upgrade to the t3/t4 hybrids or even better go with the GT series !!!

im personaly going with a T4 60trim with a P wheels with external 44 mm gate with an open dump.
also going with a large spearco cored interooler (and by large i mean 24x12x4)
