Drive without a Balance Shaft belt???

Hey guys, I have heard that it was possible to drive with the balance shaft belt out. Not sure how you would go about doing this... but it really interested me. Is it possible? And also heard there was a balance shaft removal kit? What does it consist of? Since my timing belt is out and all, can I just slip if off and the just slap on the timing belt and drive along?

ive been driving without a balance shaft belt for about 10,000 miles, apparently it makes a little more vibration but i noticed less, i think my balance shaft was 180 out though,... but yes you can just ****can the belt and drive that way, if you remove the BS belt tensioner pulley dont forget to put a shortbolt back in that hole or it will leak oil like hell.

the eliminator kit pretty much requires the engine to be out and apart.

The eliminator kit... thats what i mentioned. I was also interested what this would turn out. I have always heard about it... never understood totally what the kit consisted of.

So I can just slip off my balance shaft belt? What happens if the balance shaft belt broke while I was driving?

And also whatexactly does the balance shaft belt do?

if your BS belt broke it can cause the timing belt to jam up and jump teeth and having you have to take the head back off to put in mew valves.

Not only that but also remember the bearing are oil fed for the balance shafts. It will make oil circulation through the galleys more difficult if it's oozing in and not really moving around. Possibly causing caking and gumming of the oil.

So I can take off the balance shaft belt... Is there anything I would need to do? Do you guys recommend driving around without a balance shaft belt?

I had my belt break on my spyder, and a spark plug ended up going right through one of my pistons.. None the less that motor was taken out about 2 weeks later and a new one went in :(

Heres a little info on that.. BalanceShaft Kit
