Default RE: Engine Swap

[sm=hiya.gif][sm=hiya.gif]i love scrubs! haha, i have a "seasons pass" on tivo, so every day it records while im out doin other stuff, then before i go to bed everynight i watch like 2 or 3 episodes...

but anyway, yeah, back to the topic... granted, this topic has been spoken of a lot, but come on, everyone asked overused questions when they first started here... but here's the deal man, its not just the motor swap that would be hard for a 4g63, cause the motor is based on the opposite side of the engine bay, so you have transmission, steering, fuel, all this stuff, that by the time you finish the swap you might as well have(also said a lot) just buy a gst or gsx.

don't get us wrong, the 420a has been known to sprout out a few pretty quick cars, but nothing spectacular, and it's a lot more work than it's worth in a lot of peoples opinions... thats just my 2 cents
p.s. if you do wind up doin a swap of some kind, let us all know and i'll wanna see pics, good luck!

Thanks alot sk8trdudety, its just my RS is my first nice car and I guess I'm the kind of person that wants a challange and something to really test my skills as a mechanic. Also I think I'm going not going to go with a 4G63 out of an Eclipse, I'm going to try and do some more reasearch and see if an Evo 4-9 engine would be a good choice and if not see if the SRT-4's engine would be...All I know is the 420A is not going to stay in for too long.

As for the weight, I imagine at the time of the swap I'm going to do something with the suspension.

Anyways when I do the swap their will definatly be some pics.

yeah man generally the evos have a 4g63t engine but the difference is they come with a bigger turbo and intercooler than the ones that come out of the gst and gsx eclipses and they have a taller head on them...other than that theres usually not a difference...as far as the srt-4 engine let me know how it goes if you decide to do it man b/c right now i have a 420a and if thats a fairly simply swap i might be able to consider that for my car lol...

I highly doubt that is a simple swap. If it were, we would have probably heard about it by now.

i know i've said this before, but drop in an rb26 you want to test your skills as a mechanic then try to get one of those in there. Extend the frame front end..... everything else...have fun. Honestly it's a complete waste of time in what you're doing.
