Default ENGINE SWAP! FROM GS TO GS-T OR GSX?

My car now:
1999 Mitsubishi Spyder GS

Heres what im tryin to do with my car:
Make it fast enough to smoke ponies and subarus haha GRUDGE!
My goal is probably about 250-350HP
I want to add a turbo (of course)

My driving habbits:
Daily driver I drive a lot.
Ive seen cars that are souped but that can not be drive around the block without putting gas. So basically an all around fast and at the same time dependable car.

Options:
Ive been doing my research and I am not about to add a turbo on my 2.4 non turbo engine theres to many downfalls and things that could hurt the engine since its not really built for that.
Ive came to the conclusion that it would be all around easier and more dependable to swap the engine with a GSX engine or GS-T engine.
Can someone please explain the difference between the 2?
Also since the GSX engine is AWD how would I convert that?
Wheres a good place to get the engine?
What else would I need to swap since im going turbo Ex. Downpipe, Exhaust?
What would be my best option or other option?

I found a gsx at the junkyard and its being parted out so Im just wondering what to get because hes selling the parts for cheap and gaurenteed to work. Hes selling the stock turbo for $60. Thanks for reading and for your help!

Man, do a search. This is discussed almost weekly. lol
Its a sh*tload of work to convert a non turbo 420A or 4g64 to a 4g63.
Alot of fabrication, wiring, and more work that honestly is not worth it.
By the time you're done, you'll have spent atleast 4 grand... at bare minimum.
For that, you could have sold your car and bought a GST/GSX.

Its not such a bad idea to turbo your existing motor.
Hahn racecraft makes some pretty mean turbo set ups that are making 250whp on 6psi with stock internals.
And they price around $1,900. You should look into it.
Theres not many 4g64 Spyders that are boosted.

Honestly dude, it's not worth it to convert, to much time and money, and your car isn't worth even close to what an actual GS-t or GSX is. Just wait and buy a GSX or GS-T it will be way worth it on the long run!

This is a topic that keeps coming up.
I've just seen two in the newest of the 3 pages of threads.
Here's one that has a good solution for you without removing the block...so to speak.

basically. swapping to the 4g63t = apx 3000-4000 in parts and if you do the work your self.... probably looking at 1 1/2-2 months for the build

turbo'ing your 420a = 3000-3500 for a kit, 1000 for the parts they left out, 1200 for the bottom end rebuild, and if you do it yourself you can get it done in about a month.

basically w/ ur car you are stuck between a rock and hard place. i know you don't want to let your car go b/c you just got it but honeslty, it's not worth it. i had the whoel bottom end rebuild kit for my 420a, a spare block, 2 cranks and 2 main caps all for the build.. i also had a turbo, manifold, wastegate, fmic, piping and bov.... even after all that i gave up b/c i still had EASILY another 1500-2000 in parts to safely run a turbo on the car. keep it stock, save your money, get a gs-t or gsx.
