Flywheel Removal
 

Whats up guys. I haven't really been on in a while cuz works been busy. Ok here's the update. I just got a 6 bolt block and head complete which is great. The block was rebuilt 300 miles ago but the genius reuse his timing belt cuz "it looked like it was still good". It snapped on him and now I got a great deal. :D Ok so my question is I'm tearing it down cuz I want it built my way but I can't get the flywheel off the thing...it just spins. Anybody know an easy way? Also am I gonna run into anymore problems since it's already out of the car.

If you have access to air, use an 1/2 impact gun.

I wish I did that would make life so much easier but alas no. I own a dsm where would I get money for such luxuries

what you can do (which is kinda a redneck way to take off wheels too) is get a big breaker bar with the right size socket, start spinning it to the right and then quickly snap it to the left and see if it breaks loose

That might work but I really don't want to get one or two off and then the rest not work cuz I'd be pissed. Also that won't really help keep it from moving when trying to tighten them back down when I install a new one

ah yea ur sn threw me off too... can you get a screwdriver or some sort of vice grips on the flywheel, maybe even a second person and try to do it?

by the way are you planning on replacing it with a lightweight flywheel??

get a rachet and a breakerbar. put the rachet on the bolt. get a socket that will fit over the rachet (or a pipe will work) and break it. ull have more leverage. did it with a buddy. we both hung from it and it broke loose
