Yeah see that's also why I ask if the smoke stopps after a few minutes or if it happens the whole time the vehicle is being driven. If only for a few minutes and a blue smoke then definately valve guides. If it happens the whole time he's driving and the smoke is black then it's obviously running rich. Also with knowing the codes that tells you basically what's wrong and makes the troubleshooting alot easier.
