is it a GS?
hey guys, im looking at a 97 eclipse and the owner says that he thinks its a gs but he's not 100% sure. what are some ways that i can tell that its not a base/rs? it has the 5, double spoked 17" rims, like the gsx, rear windshield wiper, fogs, and thats about all i can remember but i dont think it's turbo. thanks a lot

RE: is it a GS?
well if it's got a rear windshield wiper then it's a gs at least. one way to see if it's a gs, if the engine doesn't have a turbo it is. but even under the odd circumstance it's not, the air filter on a gst or gsx is on the left looking at the engine, a rs or a gs is on the right.

RE: is it a GS?
correction again...the lump in the 2g is totally useless. The ONLY time it was ever necessary was in the 1g and they just carried it over to the 2g to keep the "stlye". So please stop giving all this mis-information
and why is everyone discussing between turbo and non turbo. Thats not what hes asking, read the question. He wants to know the difference between the RS and GS and the way to know which is which. Really there isnt much of a difference. Supposedly the GS came with more thing from the factory such as power windows/locks, ect. But i have seen rs's with these things as well so apparently they were available. From what youve described id guess its a GS. But there really isnt much of a difference between the two so i wouldnt worry about it
