So i am in the market for a new car and i want to research it as much as possible and I really like the look of the mitsubishi eclipse 1998-1999 models. I found out that the two models that perform the best are the GS-T and GSX. Correct me if i am wrong on this. Also what is the difference between these and the "spyder" series. The GSX only has 140 hp which is same as GS-T although i have heard arguements from both sides saying one is fast than the other. THe GSX is all wheel drive whereas the GS-t is only front, obviously the GSX will be betterin thesnow and rain but otherwhisewhat are the advantages/disadvantages of eachand where does the "spyder" series fit in here? thanks.

okay, heres the lowdown.

there is not a GSX spyder. there is only a GST spyder, which is (as you said) a turbo, front wheel drive model. the GSX is all wheel drive, and only available in coupe form.

all the turbo cars have 210 HP with a manual transaxle, 205 with an automatic.

the 140 hp version is the non-turbo version (the eclipse RS and eclipse GS) which is actually a chrysler powertrain. the chrysler engine is nearly an exact copy of a Neon powertrain, with some slight changes.

And in any condition, an all wheel drive vehical will outperform a front drive vehical due to the front drivers tendency to understeer. the only advantage the front driver has is its lighter and cheaper.

in case you don't know the gsx is all wheel drive.. making it a great car in all conditions... street, track, rain, snow.......i drive a 98 gsx... and i will never go back to a front wheel drive..

in my opinion the gsx is much better, just depends on what your doing with the car....
