Default head

how do you take the head off? lmao. i cant find the other screws for the timing belt cover to loosen the tensioner and i cant get to the bolts ob the intake manifold. and when i tried to take the head bolts off they are to tight on there.

i just recently had my head rebuilt, and when i was talking to the guy, he said you have to take a LOT of stuff off, before you can even get the head off

All right first off have you match marked ANYTHING? You don't want to take the head off without matchmarking to make it easier to get things back where they were. Also you'll likely need swivel head sockets or a u joint adapter. You will also need extensions. The head bolts WILL be tough to get off. They are torques down and you will need to REPLACE THEM. When they get torqued down they STRETCH and thus when you torque them a second time it's not the same. Even if you torque to the specified amount. Do you have the exhaust manifold off yet? There should be bolts in the timing belt cover all around on the outside and I think one or 2 in the center. CAREFUL with those ones. They have spacers behind them and if you pull them all the way out you'll drop the spacers.

well are you planning on taking the head off with the intake maifold as well? if so there is a bolt on the backside of the block that you need to get off. (its a bolt that holds the manifold up).ill take some pics because ive got my head off right now.

ok i got the head bolts off,all the belts except the timing belt. i have a pulley in the way of getting that timing belt cover off and some screws under the pulley i cant get to.
