so i just got my eclipse a week ago...and i know this sounds like a noob question but anyways, when i open the trunk, how do i lock it in place so it doesnt come down?

Your gas shocks are gone.

well i mean, the car isnt on when i open the trunk, would that make a difference? does it have to be one for it to stay?

Noooooooo....the gas shocks are bad....the little black "rods" on either side of the hatch need to be replaced.

Your can go to autozone, or advanced auto shouldnt cost you no more than $100 for both. Just be careful when you take them off and put the new ones on. Aim them away from your window. They might still have a little bit of pressure in them and couldcrack your window when taking them off.Mine went bad i just replaced both mine. Only 3 bolts hold them on 2 on bottom and 1 on top. your going to need a hex, or star head cant remember for the one on top. I belive the bottom 2 are 8mm. Should take you 15mins or less to replace both them.

thanks guys, i asked my dad and he said the same thing u guys are saying, but he said i have to replace it since it is my car lol .
