The eclipse you want, 95-99 body style, was only made in North America. They are called 2gDSM because they were made in a plant called Diamond Star Motors and they were the 2nd Generation of eclipses. You could maybe find a wrecked eclipse GSX from a US importer. There are quite a few i have seen that have been for "export only", which means that they can't be driven in the US, but can be exported to another country and driven there. A few 2g Eclipse Turbos were sent to Europe, but i believe they were still LHD. If you were to get an Export only salvage car from aUS importer, i'd say it would cost around $5000 US. I have no idea how much it would be Australian....Not a common conversion for us North Americans.

The one in the F&F was a turbo N/A model with the 420A motor. And it's speed was WAY overexagerated. Hahn owns the fastest 420A eclipse, and it only runs 11's in the 1/4.

DSM's were NOT only made in America. Many european countries also have them.

Hey Colussus, did you read the rest of my post? And DSM's were *only* made North America. There was only one DSM plant. In Normal, Illinois. I'll bore you all with magical and mystical story of how it came to be if you want

The "roof scoop" is a rally inspired contraption that was actually designed to help vent the driver/passenger compartments. It originally came from the mid-engine supercars as a "ram-air" sort of thing, but was ditched by most manufacturer's(Ferrari, Lambo, Mosler) when they moved to side vents. When rallying became a big thing, weight loss was critical so the teams dropped every accesory not needed. So off went the AC. On hot summer days....you can imagine how hot it can be with two perspiring people in a car going 80mph around a forest trying not to hit anything.

The car you want is a 2g eclipse. I don't see why though....you get cool cars like the Soarer GT and Chaser down there...That's the kind of cars we want in the States!

what type of engine was in the car from fast in the furious, what was the specifications, what fuel system, turboetc. I ooked around but couldnt find a website that had the stats of the vechicle. Anything you can tell me would be great. Its not all about the speed i like the look of the car. Also a rough estimate on the vehicle would be sweet and if the car would be australian legal? Thanks peoples.

Well, the Eclipses came with a variety of engines and drivetrains. The base and mid-model camewith 2.0l 4 cylinder made by Chrysler. It had 140hp and about 140lbs of torque. It came in FWD only. The next Model was the GST. It had a turbocharged 2.0l 4 cylinder made by Mitsubishi. It made 210hp and 214lbs of torque. It's the same engine found in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions found down on your side. It's the same configuration as the Evo's 1-3, and the same engine as the one in the Evo 4-8, just flipped 180 degrees. The GST only came in FWD also. Then there was the top of the line GSX. It came Turbocharged and all wheel drive. There was also the Eclipse Spyders which are convertible's. There was a Spyder GS that came with 2.4l mitsubishi made engine, and Spyder GST that came with the Turbocharged engine. Spyders only came in FWD, but were special because the are easy to convert to AWD since they were built on the AWD GSX chasis. Now, The car in the F&F was a show car pretty much. It was a base model eclipse with a body kit and lowering springs. It wasn't turbocharged and had an almost stock engine with barely any mods. It's performance doesn't match what you saw in the movie, it's much slower than that. You can maybe buy an export base model eclipse in good condition for ~$5000USD and get the body kit and stuff and paint scheme to match what you saw. It won't perform, but it will still look like the one in the movie. As for the Autralia legal stuff...I dunno. You gotta check with your Motor Vehicles Department and stuff to see if the car can be legalized there.

P.S. Go to www.Ebay.com and look for the Eclipse Blitz Kit. It's the body kit and you can find it for as low as $200USD, but shipping to Australia is gonna be $600USD. That's becausemost Ebay sellers make more money of shipping that the actual item.
