im thinking about buying a second gen eclipse and i was wondering if you guys knew how reliable they are...like for example how many miles could i get out of one before lots of major things start failing and i need to start putting more money into it then its worth?

RE: im thinking about buying...

it all depends on the previous owner... i've seen 2g's cop out at 70k, and other live over 200k, it all depends on if it was beaten or taken care of. make sure to check up on all routine maintenance

ditto just get the all the records you can get. they r reliable if you buy quaility parts ie moding or just replacement. just watch out for the ones that are in the 100k mark with no records you might get stuck replaing alot of things (headgasket, starter, timing belt, water pump, etc... i know from experence) but all worth it. if you are looking for speed GSX- awd the best, on a budget- GST 2wd, or dd little moding and good mpg GS or RS . ps dont ask what alot of ppl think which is better that has been asked so many time it just gets them mad. o and by the way welcome to the baord dont b afraid of asking any ?'s
