intro.. and help? =)

just wanted to say hi to everyone! so... even though i have brothers who are very much into their cars (bmws & s2k), a cousin working in a garage and swapped his own engine in his 240 (pretty diverse driving family, arent we? lol)... i am pretty much lost when it comes to cars . i got my 97 eclipse gs back in june of '06. my very first car and i love her :). im not looking to make her into a ricer, or even that much of a looker, lol, or looking to fly her at mach speed down the highway... just looking to make sure she runs well and stays healthy, basically. maybe one day ill decide to pretty her up a bit ;). anyway, i thought joining this forum might help me find answers to some questions.

oh oh! and i do have a question! ok, its february and its cold. but the heat doesnt work! even when i turn the ac button off and turn the knob all the way to red, she still blows out cold/cool air :(. why? what can i do?

could be the heater core is bad. First thing to check is your coolant levels. If thats all good then check the hoses going to the heater and see if they are getting hot. The problem might only be as simple as your knob isnt workin correctly also.

probably a bad heater core man... all ya gotta do is replace it. and make sure the car is warmed up and you give it a few seconds after turning the heat on, mine takes about 30 seconds to warm up. =)

i would still check other stuff before the heater core though. It can be quite a bitch to install ;)

Welcome to the forums! and yeah its a really nice color... wish i could help you, but we dont really think about heaters when we get 113 degrees here

i had a really bad problem w/ my heater a while back... how is your coolant level? if it's full does it stay full? if it continuously goes down, check your heater and radiator hoses, if they look fine... possible head gasket... mine blew with relatively NO white smoke and it messed my heater all up. these cars with the 420a's are notorious for blowing head gaskets.
