well, sorry to say but all your going to hear around here is that you can't make power with the 420a. thats all i've been hearing. how much power you looking to make? there are turbo kits available that can get about 200 ish wheel hp on a stock motor but your looking at about 3-4 grand. if your looking for bolt on power, trust me, its not gonna happen with this motor. i've done headers, cat, exhaust, intake and throttle body on mine already, and aside from sounding bad ass, there hasn't been much improvement in the butt dyno readings. your probably at around 113 whp stock (140 was the factory crank rating i believe) and after the parts i've thrown at mine i'm at about 135whp and thats only because i had a buddy tune the air/fuel ratios and reflash the computer. and thats expensive crap (thank goodness for favors, huh?). the 420a isn't the greatest motor, but for simple everyday driving its ok. if your heart is set on making gobs of power, then get rid of the car and just buy a gst or gsx. the 4g63 makes power out the ass with a little tuning. to make comparable power with the 420a costs money, lots of it. the only feasible way i can think of (and the route i'm taking because i'm getting free parts and a free long block to mess with) is to build your own engine to save on the labor. after pricing out parts and making my own turbo kit i'm looking at spending about 3000 on a motor that should make about 275 whp (295-300 crank) when i'm done. that isn't counting the free long block that i'm rebuilding, the free garrett turbo i picked up, or the custom manifold my buddy is fabbing up for me. so, like i said, the easy way is to sell and get a gst or gsx. the 420a buildup is expensive and the horsepower potential isn't as high as the 4g63. hope this helps you out.
