Default mysterious engine noise...and brake question

First off I just gotta tell you I feel kinda foolish for not being able for figure this one out. I got a 95 eclipse RS with the 420a engine and a 5 speed trans. As far as i can tell It's never had any mods done to it, however when I take the engine revs up to between 4000 and 5500 rpm I get this weird noise. To me it sounds like a turbo whine in a way but I know this is impossible. it hasn't interfered with the engine power as far as I can tell, but it's never good to have strange sounds from under the hood. I've checked all the vaccum lines, found one with a burn hole in it and replaced it. the noise is still there. it's maddening! hehe

Also I got another question. I'm thinking about doing a rear disk conversion and wanted to know if anyone out there has done it. Is it going to be worth doing or is the price going to be worth it for better performance?

Thanks for any advise on these..

1.) how loud is the noise you hear?

2.) there are definately better things that you can spend your moneyon for performance. fot the cost you would spend for that conversion, you could prolly turbo your car

i dont think its that expensive to convert the rears to disk all u got to do is go to the junkyard and get the parts... then again i have disks already on mine so i dunno but on other cars it aint that hard

This noise is loud. Like a high pitched whistling sound. thares no way it could be a power steering whine hehe

just trying do do things logically. before you can go fast you better be able to stop..

I'll look tomorrow but as far as I know it's just a stock engine. I have noticed that I can smell gas from it sometimes after I run it hard. I'll post again after I look but I doubt it.

Its actually normal to have that. Its the sound of the intake.

Also with the brakes, yes that is very easily done. Just take the parts from another eclipse.
