N/A or Turbo?

aight so i was racin a zx2 last night with a CAI and catback.... and lost i'm sick of having a fast looking car with no go what-so-ever! im' either building it out or turboing it. so which do yall suggest? it'll eithe be a small t3/t4 turbo and run about 10-15psi or build the engine to 12.5-1 ratio and leave it at that OR just throw like a 65 shot of nitrous on there, what do yall sugest?

Turbo is the only way that car is going to move. So far no one has broken a 15.00 in the 1/4 mile with a all motor 420a eclipse with out spray. With the cost of building the motor you would get a stage one turbo kit from hahan or star and be right there where with the high compression motor you would be at a mid 15 and need some serious bolt ons to get lower.

My opinion. Stop worrying about racing with a GS.[:@]. Just save your money and get a nicer car down the road. Youll be glad you did

if you plan on 10-15psi on the 420a, then you will have to rebuild the engine anyway.

RE: N/A or Turbo?

i'm aware that i will have to rebuild the block, bored, and forged it's about an 800 block build with the deals that i've found and the turbo kit whichever i decide to go. but the stock head will take up to 22 psi on the 420a. i had a GSX that i was building out... i AM saving my money for a nicer/faster car however i HAVE to have something quick to get me by until i do, it's driving me nuts having this fast lookin car with no go. and just so everybody is clear the reason i'm not keeping the gsx is so my insurance is 250 cheaper every 6 months. SLOW420A - so with a stage 1 turbo i'd be just as fast as if i ran the 12.5??? b/c i can build the engine for about half the price of turboing. i'm only lookin for about 200-250hp, nothing extreme.

ok, now I am confused.

youre asking this:

should I turbo the car and run at 10-15PSI that will require me to rebuild my engine?

or..

should I rebuild my engine?

to me, it seems that you are going to be rebuilding the engine either way you go.

RE: N/A or Turbo?

no, i can EITHER stroke the engine to 12.5-1 compression ratio (building the engine) -OR- turbo the engine which would require me to bore the block, and get forged pistons, rods, rings.... thats what i'm asking... how about i make this easy. does anybody know how much HP gain going from stock 420a - a 12.5-1 compression ratio would give you?

RE: N/A or Turbo?

i would sell the gs and invest all your money into a gst/gsx just my opinion

RE: N/A or Turbo?

i thought i made this clear but lets do it again... i already had a GSX i just sold it, i'm tryin to get some power out of my GS for the next year and a half, b/c next oct/nov i'm gettin a permanent car! the reason i sold the gsx and kept the gs is because insurance is cheaper and im tryin to keep my bills to a minimum so i can save as much as possible for my car next year. so once again, does anybody know how much HP you will gain going from a stock 420a to a 12.5-1 compression engine will give you?????
