Need help to beat a friend in a race.
 

Hi, im driving a 1999 eclipse gs with upgraded exhaust, headers, cold air intake and thats it. Its a 5speed. My friend is driving a 2000 mustang 5speed 3.8l v6 with no after market parts.

What about a 50shot of nitrous? Any ideas?

I hope your planning on racing him at the track?

here an idea, buy a turbo eclipse and stop trying to race with a non turbo GS. Unless you plan on adding a turbo and spending some money your not gonna get in the low 15's. Sorry to bust your bubble.

ya i agree with both of them, id assume your going to a track night at a local strip,,,,,, and buy a for sale sign for you 99 gs and find a gst or a gsx that needs a little work,

you could put a turbo on your 420a motor in the gs that you have but thats going to require a decient amount of money

doubt your 50 shot of nos will cover a 6cyc mustang

A better race would be who gets better mpgs.

my gs eclipse would beat v6 mustangs but i had a ported and polished head...

doubtful, one of the fastest NA 420a eclipses was only running about a 15.2 and that was after a ton of money. I heard that they have gotten alittle better than that but even still it wasnt to long ago that it was the best you could do on the NA motor. So my guess is bad driver in a v6 that you claim to have beaten

i dont understand how everyone says this car was THAT slow( the NA eclipse in general). i must have had a real one off one. (im not trying to brag or anything) but, to me, it wasnt that slow at all. i've had fast cars and i've had slow cars and that one was somewhere in the middle. i didnt ever take it to the track, but still. i dunno, it just amazes me. :shrugs: either way. i just cant imagine the FASTEST one to be running 15.2's

Mustang is a fast car on 1/4 mile but the Mitsu can beat the Mustang on corners.
