By the way, you get better mileage out of a manual because you can shift into OD anytime you feel like it.

500 bucks wont geat you near anyhting like that. For more hp get an intake, and an exaust... it wont give you much though, maybe 15hp at the max.

 

On my 96 Rs i put a cold air intake, headers and down pipe in header wrap, and cat back exhaust. It got my mpg up to around 27 in the city and added hp and an adgressive sound. So if i was you I would just work on the the air flow of the engine.
