Default new turbo, same problem

I got my new Evo III 16g installed, and I road tested it. My last turbo started making a high pitched noise when making boost, and I thought it was because the turbo was shot. Well Im still getting the same high pitched noise. Boost leak maybe? Im having a hard time figuring it out.

well are you building any boost. Might be a leaking BOV or the wastegate

Yeah, up to 20psi, then I hit fuel cut, but it needs to be re-tuned. Its running way rich and I didnt have alot of time todrive it and tune it. I test drove it to see if the sound was the old turbo or not.

Is there a way to test for a boost leak? and would boost leaking make a whistle?

Leaky gaskets make a high pitch buzzy whistle.
Ive heard it from my TB bolts being loose.

what kind of intake do you have? i have a friend w/ an srt-4 that was running w/o an intake at all last week and whenever his turbo starts spoolin hard (around 17-18psi) it SCREAMS!!!!!! litteraly, it would probably hurt my ears if i were next to him.

right now I have a cone filter on my stock intake pipe because debris got into my last turbo through the intake.

Its not loud enough to hurt the ears though. But it is kind of buzzy. I will have to check the throttle body and gaskets

My spyder makes a noise like you described.. Is yours an automatic? I believe mine has a boost leak though.. I think its b/c of the crappy bov that the 2g's came with...

I changed the throttle body shaft seals, but it still makes the same high pitched noise, still goes really rich after boost is made, and hits fuel cut. Im pretty sure its a leak somewhere but I cant figure out where. I looked at the greddy bov and didnt see anything unusual...how can I tell if its leaking? or the wastegate? what gaskets could be leaking? what else could I check for?

any ideas are helpful
