Default p0420

hey guys me and my 99 rs again. ok my CEL came on and i took her to auto zone to use their obd 2 scanner. lol it took me about 5 mins of where to plug it in. ^^ anywho, i got the code it came out to p0420 " the pcm has determined that the catalyst system efficiency for bank 1 is below threshold for the current engine operating conditions." what is my first step of action? i dont believe my engine is misfiring, there is no oil going into my engine, (i just did a tune up.. i was thinking that i didnt gap it properly) but my idle does surge at idle and when i rev. so maybe vacume leak, does anyone have a diagram i can look at? and thanks in advance for your help. ^^

You have a bad cat, p0420 is a cat efficeny code. Replace the cat and your good to go.

You cant really clan it out, once they go they go. Go to autopartswarehouse.com for prices on cats. They are usually pretty cheap.
