race head or not?
 

Hey guys i have a 97 Gst w/some moderate mods. My problem is that i have a stock headwith some bad valve seals or guides and its causing it tospit out some blue smoke atidle andat stop lights but not whendriving. Instead of buying the seals and having it rebuiltI wanted to buythestage 2 race head from slowboy.com this summer. My question is,will ibe able to bolt if up to mystock rebuilt bottom end? If sowill it run right with my stockT-25 setup w/ no problems?

MBC @ 15psi
Prourathane Motor Mounts
ACT 2100 clutch
suspension, body, ect.....

I couldnt see why that wouldnt work. Go for it. Ive heard good things about slowboy

If your gonna go with slow boy be prepared to wait a long time. I have heard with some of there stuff it takes almost 6 months before you recieve it. I would look into either AMS or Buschur. They are alot more reputable. They may be a bit more expensive however. IMO though you dont need a built head on the mods you have. Just have it rebuilt with new seals.

ive seen slowboy cars at the track, as they are based only a few minutes from my home track...there were quite a few that REALLY ran well, but ive heard many complaints about them, and i think that they were being sued by some big company...

I've never purchased from Slowboy, but i've heard mixed reviews.
You'd probally be best off just fixing the seals.
Its a cheaper move.
Saving money is always good.

But why replace it with OEM just to change it later for the performance bushings... Much like Advocate, Ive heard of them taking thier time to send stuff... Buscher may be the way to go.

Welli guess if you plan on upgrading later on then this is a good time to do it. Also dont forget if your repairing the head then get some ARP head studs while you at it ;). And the head will bolt right up to your stock block, its the same head except with upgraded cams, valve springs, and retainers. This is what i would get if i were you

i'd say, order the SBR stage 2 head. by the time you get it, you will have enough money saved up to upgrade to a larger turbo to really put it to use. until then, just swallow your pride at the stop lights and put some no smoke in there lol

I know thats what im saying. Why would you buy from SBR when for only a hundred more you know your getting a quality product from buschur
