Smoking problem
anytime i drive my car for awhile it will just smell or even smoke (white) depending on how hard or long i drive it for.
When i went to the exhaust shop in townthey told me that i have a burnt piston. could this be the problem? |
RE: Smoking problem
White smoke isnt a burnt piston.
Get a compression tester and check the numbers. Im guessing head gasket. |
RE: Smoking problem
One way to check the head gasket is to look under the oil filler cap and look for a white goop.

RE: Smoking problem
so what is it that would be wrong with the head gasket? would it be burnt.
and sorry how exactly would i look under the oil filler cap. |
RE: Smoking problem
Unscrew it lol.
The way head gaskets go bad is they warp, change shape, sometimes melt. The bottom line is that it results in coolant getting into the combustion chamber, causing white smoke. |
RE: Smoking problem
Do you have any mods? what kind of car do you have?
I know mine blew a lot of white smoke after my intercooler hose blew off... When I started it back up I didnt reset the computer so the maf was messed up and blew white smoke like you couldnt believe.. I thought for sure it was the head gasket.. But after I reset it, it was fine.. |
RE: Smoking problem
