starter problem?

I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 4G63 turbo awd with a 5 speed manual trans that I bought 6 months ago. Recently out of the blue it started making a grinding noise when I started it but once started it ran fine no problem. It did the same thing a few more times. Then the last time it made no sound at all and just did not start. After several attempts at starting with no noise at all I was ready to call the tow truck. I tried one more time and it did start so I drove it home and parked my baby. Is this the starter or would a solenoid problem. If it's the starter where is it located and how hard is it to replace it. I'm no mechanic but I don't have a lot of money so I'm willing to get greasy if it not a major job. Anyone know where I can buy a good replacement without breaking the bank. I want a good one so that I don't have to do this again for a long time. I found a pretty good deal on a bosh starter online. Are they good? HELP !!! Thanks in advance for sharing some knowledge.

The starter isn't hard to put in it's right behind the block on the right side right under the manifold...small hands work wonders lol...

just get one at autozone. Its a pretty basic replacement. There is just other stuff you will have to get out of the way in order to remove it
